Parent Information
School Lunches:
Children may order a SUBWAY lunch on Mondays. Order forms are the available through the school office. On Friday children may order a sausage and bread cooked by the PTC members.
Library:
All classes have weekly librarylessons. Children may borrow two books for two weeks. We are proud of our recently refurbished library and appreciate the effort made by parents to help with fundraising, book processing and repairs.
Banking:
In an effort to help children develop a savings habit, the school offers a weekly Westpac school banking service. Bankbooks are kept at school, sent home on Tuesday and returned with money and completed deposit slip on Wednesday morning.
School Stationery:
All stationery requirements are available through the school office.
Swimming Pool:
The school pool is available for use by families during the season. A charge is made for a key which lets you open the pool gate and the changing rooms. Children must be supervised by an adult 18 years or over.
Amenity Donations:
Amenity donations made be made by one payment at the beginning of the year or arrangements can be made for smaller payments throughout the year.
Classroom Parent Help:
We welcome parent help in the classroom at appropriate times. Individual teachers will notify when they would appreciate assistance.
Newsletter:
Our newsletter is published each Thursday to the youngest member of each family. It aims at keeping parents fully informed of school events and provides opportunities for children to share some work. There are also limited opportunities for community notices.
Road Safety:
Only Year 5 and 6 pupils should ride bikes/scooters to school unaccompanied by an adult. Approved cycle helmets must be worn.
Sun-Smart Policy:
The school has a sun-smart policy to educate children in preventing sun-burn. All pupils and staff are strongly encouraged to wear suitable hats with brims or flaps to protect necks, ears and faces. "NO HAT NO PLAY":
New Entrant Enrolment Procedures:
Children can be enrolled on the day they turn five but we encourage early advice and collection of pre-enrolment forms. Orientation visits with New Entrant teachers may be arranged 4-6 weeks before the child’s starting date. Visits are not available during the last two weeks of the school year. Enrolment is made at the school office usually with the Principal. Please note we need to sight a birth certificate and your child’s Immunisation Certificate. Please contact the school office to arrange to meet the Principal who will provide you with a conducted tour of the school.
Lost Property:
All clothing and footwear worn to school should be named. Lost property is stored in bins and may be viewed before and after school. At the end of each month unclaimed items are sent to the Salvation Army.
Pupil Absences:
Parents are reminded that it is their legal responsibility to ensure their children attend school whenever it is open. Family holidays should be arranged during school vacations. If a child is going to be absent, parents are asked to advise the school before 9.00am. If the teacher or office have not been notified when a child is absent, office staff will ring home or the emergency contact number.
School Grounds:
Children and parents are free to make use of the school grounds during daylight outside of school hours; however children are the responsibility of their parents at these times. Children should not arrive at school before 8.30am and are not permitted on the grounds before the 8.30 bell. Skateboarding is not permitted on the school grounds.
Smoke-Free School Environment:
Parents and Caregivers should be aware that by law no smoking is permitted inside the school buildings, on school grounds and on trips and camps at any time.
School Hours:
First session: 9.00-10.30am.
Second session: 10.50 – 12.30pm.
Third session: 1.30 – 3.00pm.
Open-Door Policy:
The school operates an "Open-Door" policy. We value appropriate parent/caregiver input and assistance. Education is very much a team effort and partnership between parents, caregivers and teachers. Together we can provide the best possible educational opportunities for the children.
